What players usually ask

Not at all! Our events welcome players of all levels. The goal is to have fun, meet people, and improve together. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced player, you'll find opponents at your level.

In the Swiss system, you don't get eliminated. Each round you're paired with someone who has a similar score. This means everyone plays all rounds and faces increasingly balanced opponents as the tournament progresses.

Just yourself and your love for chess! We provide the chess sets and clocks. The venue will have food and drinks available.

Win = 1 point, Draw = 0.5 points, Loss = 0 points. Tiebreaks are handled by Buchholz score - the sum of your opponents' total points. Stronger opposition means your wins count more.

“In recent times, I believe people have become obsessed with consumption and strayed from the core values that make human nature beautiful. BakuChess's mission is about creating, not consuming, thus bringing Baku's chess lovers together from all over the city to create memories and new friendships, strengthen bonds, and make everyone contribute to this great community.”
